INTERREG IVC

By sharon, July 10, 2007

INTERREG IVC will run from 2007 until 2013.  The current model consisting of four programme zones will be replaced with one Europe-wide programme with a single management structure.  “INTERREG IVC” will be based in LILLE, FRANCE (Managing Authority, Audit & Certifying Authority and Joint Technical Secretariat).  The main language will be ENGLISH.  There will nonetheless be “other information points” in Valencia, Spain; Katowics, Poland and Rostock, Germany.  INTERREG IVC will have a clear focus on regional development policies based on the Lisbon and Gothenburg agendas and grouped under two priorities: “Innovation and the knowledge economy” and “The environment and risk prevention”.  There will be strong emphasis on capitalisation and the transfer and take-up of project results – in particular good practices identified by regions in their own regional development programmes.  Different types of inter-regional co-operation projects and networks will be funded.

When will INTERREG IVC be launched?

The 2007 Inter-regional Co-operation Forum will take place on the 20th and 21st of September 2007, in Lisbon, Portugal.  It will mark the launch of INTERREG IVC and show how INTERREG IIIC is already helping Europe’s regions work together and improve regional development.

Speakers include Danuta Hübner; European Commissioner for Regional Policy, and Francisco Nunes Correia; Portuguese Minister for Environment, Spatial Planning and Regional Development.  The European Parliament and Committee of the Regions are also invited.

Up to 800 representatives of local and regional authorities and other public bodies are expected to come to Lisbon from across the EU.  The forum will bring together organisations interested in tackling similar issues, help them build and promote ideas for new projects and show them how to apply for INTERREG IVC funding.

More information on the event, including a detailed programme and registration form, will be published on the INTERREG website as it becomes available.

The first call for INTERREG IVC applications should occur early in autumn of 2007.  For more information visit http: www.interreg3c.net.
